Gandy Dancer is a railroad station turned seafood restaurant that is well known in the Ann Arbor area for its history and high prices. It's great for families and a place where a lot of parents take their poor college kids. I would not recommend it for lunch or dinner, but instead, for brunch. The Sunday brunch is absolutely wonderful! It is quite expensive for the area at $25/pp but the buffet has everything you can every imagine for breakfast - from eggs benedict to fresh waffles to chocolate covered strawberries. The menu items changes occasionally depending on the season but the staple breakfast items are served at all times. The ambiance is very nice as well...exposed brick walls, ceiling to floor windows and a live band playing in the background. I especially love coming here during the holiday time for the decorations.
Parking spots are limited, but valet is complimentary (don't forget to bring cash to tip!)
Make a reservation (I use Opentable) at least a day in advance and ask for a window seat so you can get a view of the Amtrak trains that go by. Oh, and don't forget to clap when you do see a train go by.
